Have you seen the True-Green add about the industrious lawnmower, Bobby? I LOVE this ad. I was talking to my husband about it. He questioned why I am so crazy about it. When I explained, he barked, “You’ve got a blog; go write it”. So here I go.
True-Green Lawn Care is running a series of ads in my area about a young man named Bobby, who walks the neighborhood pushing his lawnmower, explaining how he benefits from True Green’s care of his customers’ lawns.
The ad campaign’s creator is a marketing genius.
Why does Bobby excite me? Because he presents an alternate view, the entrepreneurial side of American kids.
Ususally male teens are portrayed as slackers, eating junk food and playing video games while making crude comments about girls and texting.
Bobby is outside.
He’s getting exercise.
He’s multi-tasking, making money while doing both of the above.
And he has a PLAN. He does financial projections. For this quarter. For the future. For HIS future.
This kid thinks. He’s motivated. He talks about quarterly growth and being on the cover of Forbes.
I wish he’d marry one of my girls. Gee, that sounds sexist.
I wish he were MY son. That sounds patronizing.
Aw crap. I wish he were married to me. . .
