We received another gift of service this week, for our anniversary. I am delighted to report that we now have only one computer in our home, and one computer desk! DD27 and DD23 and their beaux spent an hour or so taking everything apart and reassembling the computer we use on the bigger desk. I now have space to even write longhand here.
This has given us much more space in the L-shaped area that is our living room. Once we can burn copies of the DVDs we want to keep, the three racks that hold our collection will be emptied and given away to the girls. It is a huge relief to see stuff GO!
I’ve already purged my scrapbooking supplies, passing the surplus on. I just want to be done with the clutter. My next big project (hopefully this week) will be to purge the file cabinet’s drawers and bring the cabinet out to where I actually work. DD23’s young man suggested I bring my desk out into the L, so it would be near the computer. I’ll have to give that a think.
I must admit, this purging is addictive. I still am toying with the idea of just dumping the tote filled with audio cassettes. Perhaps I need to give myself a deadline; listen to them or dump them by?? Perhaps when DD27 moves out, at the end of July.
Why the urgency? I want to experience pleasure in my dwelling. We have to live here for another 10 months, so it might as well be arranged as I please. We think we’ll also shift into the larger bedroom when she moves. That would give me the space to set up my sewing machine and deal with what remains of my fabric stash. Lord knows I need the clothes!
