A week ago, DD24’s husband was admitted to the ICU. She and I drove all night to get there, only to be refused any information about him and his condition. It ended with our being told that if we didn’t leave the hospital, we would be forcibly taken out. We stayed long enough to retrieve some of her belongings (they’d been seized when he was arrested, because they were in his car, not hers) and hire a lawyer.
The lawyer still hasn’t met with him, but praise Jesus, DD24 got a call from her husband last night. He is finally back in jail and can call/write her as often as he wants.
As we drove, she and I had ample opportunity to speak of spiritual things and of how we saw God’s mercy and grace abound. We are particularly blessed by the way He uses the Internet to knit the body together. Our friend Patti is a special example of this. She lives near where the jail is, and so has been a local contact for us.
Another huge example of His grace is that we woke up the morning after we returned, to find a completely flat tire on the car we had used.
Mercy #1, we had made it home safely. When my husband went to get the tire repaired, he was told that it was flat because it was worn down to the steel belt! Can you imagine what would have happened if it had worn thru at 11pm when we were travelling at 70mph, in the dark.
Mercy #2, we have Roadside Assistance, so they put the spare on for us.
Mercy #3, we had money left, to pay for the 2 tires we needed.
Mercy #4, the tire store thru in an alignment for free.
God is good, all the time. Praise His holy name.
