Allison Nazarian’s blog today gave me this blog topic. She has chosen to work on two habits, one she’s subtracting, one she’s adding. Her add, very wisely, is 30 minutes of writing a day, at a set time each day.
At this same time, I am reading through Stephen King’s On Writing: a Memoir of the Craft. He states that a writer is someone who writes. Therefore, I am a writer. Whew! It is a powerful concept. I’ve never viewed myself this way. I have the highest regard for the written word, especially the printed word, whether it be on-line or on paper in my hand. How dare I take this leap?
I decided to join Allison for this challenge. Today I will write from 1-1:30pm, which is about 20 minutes from now. My goal is to work at my craft, gaining skill and developing more blog topics.
I’ve been thinking about this blog and its direction. I believe it is a personal blog. I am telling my story here, which will be enlarged as I go through knee and shoulder surgery, weight loss and whatever comes after.
I hope that any woman in more or less my position will read it and be encouraged. I want her to think, “If she can do it, I can do it”.
Trece, you are most definitely a writer! I look forward to reading what comes of your new commitment to writing every day. –M
Thanks, dear heart. I love it that you read me!!
Thank you for taking on the challenge — YOU ROCK!
